Requires macOS 26 or later on Apple Silicon. After opening the app, use Permission Doctor to enable Microphone, Input Monitoring, and Accessibility permissions. During updates, macOS may ask for Removable Volumes access so Cordierite can read the update DMG — not to browse external drives.

If something goes wrong, use Copy Diagnostic Info in the app menu and send it to us on Discord or by email.

Basic features

The free app is designed for everyday short-form dictation.

• Hotkey dictation with Hold to Talk or Toggle mode (default: Right Option)
• On-device Apple Speech transcription with partial results during recording
• Paste cleaned text into the focused app and restore the text clipboard when possible
• Replacements for common misrecognitions (up to 50 entries on the free plan)
• Light text cleanup: trim whitespace, adjust punctuation, optional filler removal
• Permission Doctor for microphone, hotkey, and paste setup

Security

All transcription runs on device. Audio recordings and full transcription history are not stored. Settings and replacements stay on this Mac only.

Free / Pro

Basic dictation, paste behavior, security fixes, and bug fixes are not planned as Pro-only features. Pro is a planned paid tier and is not available yet.
